Weekly Newsletter from Dr. D.

September 27th, 2019

Dear SKCEE families and fellow butterflies,

Thank you for completing all the necessary paperwork. I know it seems daunting, but it is extremely important we have all of your paperwork in and filed. I know we are all noticing that the weather has been perfect for learning and playing, please remember as the weather shifts, that you update the spare clothes you have here at school to match the weather. This will be our final paper version of my weekly letter, moving forward everything will be via email.  This letter has been sent to you via email, if you did not receive this through email, please stop by the front office and speak with Staci or Hannah to ensure we have your correct email address.

Picture day was a hit this week, it will take about 4 weeks to have the pictures back in your hands from Lifetouch.  Remember if you don’t like how the photo turned out retakes can be done at a later date.

I know several of you are receiving phone calls about signing up for the lunch program, these calls will stop soon, my apologies for the inconvenience for the phone calls.

Next week is Spirit week here at SKCEE, there are lots of opportunities to show your SKCEE spirit here with something different each day.  Built within our Spirit week is our biggest fund raiser for our school, our SKCEE Scamper.

This is an amazing event that is fun for the children to participate and families to cheer and celebrate as the runners cross the finish line.

Attendance is important every day, but there are some days during the school year that impact our school’s funding.  Our next important dates for funding are the 5 days surrounding October 2nd.  Schools are funded based on several funding sources and data points.  Our school needs your help in ensuring your child(ren) are here every day,  especially on count days.   We have our last count for funding during the week of September 30 through to and including October 4th.  Schools are funded based on the population of students in school both on September 12th and then again during the week of September 30th – October 4th. While we want children here every day, these days are extremely important for our budget and ensuring we provide the best

learning for each child.  It is important that you understand we are only funded for students that are here on those specific days, please do you best to have your children here on these days.  We understand that some of our families will be out September 30th to October 1st to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, enjoy your time with family and we look forward to seeing you back here on October 2nd.

Please continue to help support the safety of our school by following the School and District’s expectation of entering and exiting only through the front

door.  Please do not enter as someone else is exiting, not only is this against our safety protocols for entering and exiting, but it puts the other adult in an awkward positon to direct you to the correct door.  Safety is a team
effort.  With everyone following our protocol for entering, exiting and signing in ECE students, we keep everyone safe. As well, remember we are a nut controlled environment, no items with nut products, i.e., almond milk, hazelnut spread, and the like.

We had our first PTA and CSC meeting this week with a great turn out.  Here at SKCEE we are able to have the programming we have because of the efforts of our amazing PTA, please be a part of our PTA and SKCEE community to make this year another great year for our students.  There are endless opportunities for you to volunteer at our school, PTA, classroom volunteers, classroom parents, and lunchroom volunteers.  Please ask how you can be a bigger part of our SKCEE community.
