Student on the playground

Dear Stephen Knight Families,

It is with extreme pleasure that I welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. Our passionate and dedicated staff members look forward to meeting you and working with your child this school year. I understand we are living in a very challenging time right now. We will do our best to navigate through the obstacles presented so that our entire community of students, families, and staff will have the best outcomes possible.

In the days ahead, continue to check our school’s website, Facebook page, and Denver Public Schools’ website, www.dpsk12.org for updates about the 2020-2021 school year. There will be a SKCEE weekly update every Friday moving forward. In addition, if there are urgent messages for parents, there may be more updates during the week. SKCEE will communicate pertinent information via email, robocalls, and text messages.

Beginning Monday, August 17th, you can expect communication from your child’s teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. They are ecstatic to get to know you and your students while preparing them for what to expect with remote learning.

In addition to sharing content and resources with you, our teachers and paraprofessionals will also be in communication with each of you every week, through your preferred style of communication (phone, email, video chat). This is a time for you to share any needs you may have, get questions answered, and for your child to communicate directly with them. We are currently planning a virtual SKCEE Town Hall meeting in order to give families an opportunity to discuss the new year. More information on that will be coming soon.

As it stands now, Kindergarten students will start remote learning on August 24th. Aligned with district communication, we are preparing for in person learning for ECE. We are working hard to meet this goal. Please note that we remain responsive to health regulations and guidelines outlined by the Colorado Department of Health throughout our planning.

If you haven’t done so already, please be sure to complete the registration process and adhere to health guidelines for your child. More information about these requirements are coming soon and will be posted on our website. If you have any questions about registration, please reach out to our office staff via email as they are currently working remotely.

Thank you so much for choosing Stephen Knight Center for Early Childhood Education. There is no doubt that this will be a unique school year for everyone. However, I have no doubt that we can rise to the occasion and create a great learning experience for our students.

Sincerely,
Matt Johnson
