Student posing in class

Dear SKCEE Families,

Happy Friday and thanks for a great week! Thank you to PTA for organizing the “Bedtime Stories” to support our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair. The evening read-alouds were a huge hit. I watched many of you log on this week and I really enjoyed reading to you yesterday. It was my pleasure to experience a bedtime story with you and your family. Please join us tonight for our last Read-A-Loud, our special readers will be Mr. Bryan and Ms. Christie! See you all online tonight.

The following is an update for families with students enrolled in SKCEE and Cory. Since we currently do not have a shuttle between Stephen Knight and Cory Elementary, we are partnering to support families with arrival and dismissal each day. Students with siblings at Stephen Knight will be released from Cory at 2:45 (regardless of their last name) so families have adequate time to pick up students at Stephen Knight at 3 p.m. I am excited about this partnership and Joan and I have been working together to bring our community closer. Please reach out to the front office staff if you have any questions or concerns regarding our release plan for students with siblings at Cory. I would like you to know we are here to support you and your family and we appreciate you reaching out with concerns about these dismissal times. Thank you!

Finally, I would like to address our school current state with COVID. We currently do not have any classes in quarantine. This is accredited to the vigilance and cooperative efforts of families, teachers and staff. For this, I am incredibly grateful. I know many of us are worried about the recent uptick in positive COVID-19 cases in Colorado. I am confident that if we continue to be diligent in wearing masks, practicing good hygiene and socially distancing we can continue to protect our community. Continuing the safety of our learners and community is definitely a daunting task. However, I’ve seen the amazing things this community has accomplished when it works together to achieve a goal, so I know we can do this.

Best Regards,
Matt Johnson M.Ed.

Teacher Kathy Kuskulis teaching ECE students

Hi SKCEE families! I’m Kathy Kuskulis and I have been teaching ECE at SKCEE for 12 years. I am a Colorado native and a second generation DPS alum. I love this school and the community. This week we worked on a guided drawing for our small group. During this activity the students practice fine motor skills, listening to step by step instructions, and using tools (ruler). Thanks for reading!
