April 29, 2022
Hello SKCEE Families,
🦋The last day of April is upon us! Time certainly is flying by in these last five weeks of school! Ms. Boberschmidt and I continue to work on the leadership transition as the end of the school year draws closer. There is much to accomplish in these last five weeks, and some extra fun to be had too! (Kinder Performances, Field Day, Spring Fling, and more)
💕May 2nd-6th is Staff Appreciation Week! PTA has some wonderful staff appreciation things planned. See this link for the week’s planned events. Each designated “Room Parent” has been working with PTA to plan additional fun surprises for the week. Please contact your child’s Room Parent for information on how to participate. ❤️PTA is organizing events every day for Teacher Appreciation Week. If you would like to contribute, please make a donation to
This is not mandatory, but it would be greatly appreciated!
👀Field Day is Friday! Field Day information below from Sara Whatmore!
(volunteers still needed- see below)
🦋 Do you have a “green thumb?” We need volunteers for grounds clean up: raking the grass, raking wood chips, pulling weeds and preparing for summer. Join us on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 7:00am – 12:00pm. Please meet Junior, our Facilities Manager, at the front of the school. Please bring your own garden tools (rake, shovels, etc) (no lawn mowers) trash bags and gloves! Click here to sign up! We need a minimum of 10 volunteers for the “green thumb” opportunity.
👀PLEASE see the logistics for June 2nd and June 3rd below. There are some important SKCEE updates!!! (Specific Kindergarten ceremony logistics will be sent separately soon.)
🚗 Parking wars are happening, yikes!! Please refrain from parallel parking along the front of the school if you are not one of the two auction designated parking families. Parking parallel to the school blocks other cars and also interferes with the parking of our Kinder shuttle. Also, please do not park in our handicapped parking spaces unless you have a handicapped placard. We recognize that traffic and parking are stressors with limited parking. Safety first! 👍
Respectfully,
Joanne P. Lander

Logistics for June 2nd and June 3rd
June 2nd– Last day for all ECE students and final activities (full day and ½ day ECE students); optional attendance on June 3rd (½ day) for parents needing coverage until 11:30.
June 3rd– Last day for Kindergarten students. Kinder continuation ceremony from 9:30-10:30. Dismissal is 11:30. (Lunch for any student wanting a school sack lunch for June 3rd, must be ordered by May 17 with the child’s teacher. Lunch available at 10:45.)
Reasoning: This will allow the available ECE staff to help with the needs of running the Kinder ceremony and festivities on 06/03/22. It will allow ECE teachers to help celebrate with their former students. It will also even-out the ½ day student programming. Additionally, this will also ease the parking wars we have at dismissal.

📚Library Update
💕 Thank you to those that volunteered for helping our student library get up and running. Training is beginning, yay!! If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know asap!
💕🦋 Thank you for the clothing donations to restock the health office clothing supplies. We appreciate it very much! Speaking of clothing, our lost and found area is overflowing with coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, prescription glasses, hats, shoes, and much much more. The lost and found is located across from the office next to the auditorium doors. Please take a look to see if an item is your child’s. Items will be removed at the end of the year.
😍👂Have you heard the news? SKCEE is beginning the exciting transition to mixed age classrooms! We are beginning 2022-2023 with seven classes transitioning, and a full implementation in 2023-2024 as we work towards the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. DPS has four ECE centers and all are working towards the NAEYC accreditation. Please use this link to find out more about the SKCEE data that helped guide the decision, the research, and the plans for SKCEE. We are thrilled to begin the shift in programming!
👀 Let’s talk about some safety guidelines for late arrivals and early dismissals: Parents/guardians will need to come to the main office doors, check-in at the office and receive a date stamped sticker to wear, indicating checking into the office. A tardy slip will be given to you to give to the receiving classroom teacher. The parent/guardian will walk their child to the classroom for a sign-in with the teacher, if ECE, (Two sign-ins, one at office and one with the ECE teacher, and quick parent release of the student. The same procedures will occur for students needing early dismissal. (Check-in at office, wear a sticker, give early dismissal slip to teacher, sign-out student with the teacher, if ECE). Two sign-ins, one at the office and one with the ECE teacher. Please remember to exit the building at the front doors for security reasons. 🦋😍 Thank you,.💕we appreciate you!
