Hello SKCEE Families,
😎 Happy Tie-dye Friday! We have many students and staff sporting their Friday tie-dye for our Friday school spirit each Friday! We hope that this newsletter finds that you are well and able to enjoy the wonderful Spring Colorado weather we are having. We had hoped to capitalize on the beautiful weather and do a grounds clean up at SKCEE this Saturday May 14. Due to lack of volunteers, our green thumb opportunity has been canceled.
👀 🚗 Thank you for your continued support and understanding of our parking challenges and not parking in our coned-off areas in front of the building. Please know this is for safety reasons. Our Kinder school bus needs to navigate through the driveway area and if we have an emergency vehicle need, the area cannot be blocked. We are working on replacing the parking signs for clarity. There is extra parking available around the side of the building and on the street.
👖 Our lost and found area is overflowing with coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, prescription glasses, hats, shoes, and much much more. The lost and found is located across from the office next to the auditorium doors. Please take a look to see if an item is your child’s. Items will be removed on June 3rd.
🐝 We need paper towels. If you have an extra roll or two at home, please donate one to SKCEE to get us through the end of the year. Lots of little messes and clean ups occur that have depleted our supply.
🐣🌼 The PTA sponsored Spring Fling date is Thursday, May 26. Volunteers needed.
knightceepta@gmail.com The final PTA meeting will be 5/17/22 at 5:30pm and we’ll be electing 2022-2023 PTA Board (see link below)
From Incoming Principal, Shelley Boberschmidt: It has been such a joy to spend some of my time at Stephen Knight in April and May getting to know the staff, students, and some families. SKCEE is a really special place. I look forward to starting my family forums officially at the Spring Fling on Thursday May 26th from 3:30-6:30. Look for me at a booth and enjoy “Popsicles with the Principal.” Our newly hired Assistant Principal, Aimee Justice-Lundt, will be joining me as well. Read her community letter here.
Respectfully,
Joanne P. Lander

📆Upcoming Important Dates
Next year’s PTA is being formed and all positions need filling…we need YOU!!
Please use this link to learn how you may help SKCEE as we prepare for next year.
Thank you parents for your generosity during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week!
The last PTA meeting will be 5/17/22 at 5:30pm and we’ll be electing 2022-2023 PTA Board
Logistics for June 2nd and June 3rd
June 2nd– Last day for all ECE students and final activities (full day and ½ day ECE students); optional attendance on June 3rd (½ day) for parents needing coverage until 11:30.
June 3rd– Last day for Kindergarten students. Kinder continuation ceremony from 9:30-10:30. Dismissal is 11:30. (Lunch for any student wanting a school sack lunch for June 3rd, must be ordered by May 17 with the child’s teacher. Lunch available at 10:45.)
Reasoning: This will allow the available ECE staff to help with the needs of running the Kinder ceremony and festivities on 06/03/22. It will allow ECE teachers to help celebrate with their former students. It will also even-out the ½ day student programming. Additionally, this will also ease the parking wars we have at dismissal.
😍👂Have you heard the news? SKCEE is beginning the exciting transition to mixed age classrooms! We are beginning 2022-2023 with seven classes transitioning, and a full implementation in 2023-2024 as we work towards the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. DPS has four ECE centers and all are working towards the NAEYC accreditation. Please use this link to find out more about the SKCEE data that helped guide the decision, the research, and the plans for SKCEE. We are thrilled to begin the shift in programming!
