Hello SKCEE Families

🦋  🌼 It is quite unbelievable how fast the time has flown since my arrival at the end of January, and now we are approaching the end of the school year.

The original plan, prior to ECE Director Mitchell’s resignation, was that we share support at SKCEE so that my time of service would stretch into October. With Dr. Mitchell’s resignation I have been at the helm full-time. As a retiree I am allowed to work 110 days in a calendar year and those days are almost gone. I will have used 95 days of the 110 once my leadership duties conclude, which then leaves 15 days as a remainder. It has not been determined by the Early Ed department how those days will be used and if it includes supporting SKCEE at the beginning of the year or at another time. With that knowledge, incoming principal Shelley Boberschmidt and I have worked closely together for the transition of leadership at SKCEE.

So with June 3rd right around the corner, I want to formally thank you for welcoming me into the SKCEE community so graciously and for the friendships and partnerships made. We have accomplished a lot since the end of January and I am honored and proud to have been part of the tie-dye journey with you.

For those families returning to SKCEE, I leave you in the best of leadership hands with Principal Shelley Boberschmidt and team and look forward to hearing about the wonderful SKCEE happenings as you move into the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you for all you do in support of our community of learners. Take care of each other and I wish you all the best tie-dye and butterfly moments. 🦋🌼

😎 Thank you to the PTA who coordinated a wonderful end-of-year Spring Fling. Families and staff had a wonderful time as evidenced by the smiles, laughter, dancing, hula-hooping and more! Thanks for stopping by at the Popsicles with Principals table to say hello. (Photo below)

❤️ Thank you to those that volunteered to help out a SKCEE family who needs assistance with rides to and from school. With your generosity, we not only have found rides but also a vehicle for the family. Our SKCEE community is the best! ❤️

Respectfully,

Joanne P. Lander

  • Thursday, 6/02- Last day of school for ALL ECE students
  • Friday, 06/03- Dismissal 11:30. Kindergarten graduation ceremony 9:30-10:30. (Details sent to Kindergarten families.)

Logistics for June 2nd and June 3rd

June 2ndLast day for all ECE students and final activities (full day and ½ day ECE students); optional attendance on June 3rd (½ day) for parents needing coverage until 11:30.

June 3rdLast day for Kindergarten students. Kinder continuation ceremony from 9:30-10:30. Dismissal is 11:30. (Lunch for any student wanting a school sack lunch for June 3rd, must be ordered by May 17 with the child’s teacher. Lunch available at 10:45.)

Reasoning: This will allow the available ECE staff to help with the needs of running the Kinder ceremony and festivities on 06/03/22. It will allow ECE teachers to help celebrate with their former students.  It will also even-out the ½ day student programming. Additionally, this will ease the parking challenges we have at dismissal.

From Incoming Principal Shelley Boberschmidt:

I want to start by expressing immense gratitude to Joanne Lander, Interim Principal, who has nurtured a strong sense of community and stability here at SKCEE. She cares deeply about the Stephen Knight students, staff, and families, and has had a big impact. Thank you for leading the way and for welcoming me into the school. I’m confident that in collaboration with the dedicated SKCEE staff, and with all of you, we will have an amazing 2022-23 school year and beyond. Thanks so much to those of you who stopped by to say hello to us yesterday at the Spring Fling! Ms. Aimee and I are excited to continue to get to know you all and serve this amazing school community. Have a fantastic long weekend.
