SKCEE FAMILY NEWSLETTER
August 2022
WELCOME!
Welcome to the 22-23 school year at SKCEE! We have had a fantastic week one, and are thrilled to have our Butterflies back at school! After all the time preparing, our favorite part is welcoming students and families. Your children are brilliant, precious, unique and adorable, and we are honored to create a safe and joyful learning experience for them at Stephen Knight. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your lives.

I told a parent this week that this is my dream job. I love being at SKCEE every day. The staff is committed to your kids and each other, and they are wonderful. I’ve enjoyed getting to know some of you at arrival and dismissal, and I thank you for the warm welcome. PTA Officers have already had an awesome impact on the start of school as they beautified the front, helped us with a staff scavenger hunt, and fed our staff during our planning week. Thank you PTA! I hope you consider joining PTA to support our important partnership, and look for some exciting opportunities from them below.

And, the number one reason we all do this work and why Stephen Knight is so amazing: our kids. I have enjoyed every minute of getting to work with our students. I’ve started learning names and preferences and personalities, I’ve played outside in the sand and on the play structures in the lava, I’ve helped open milk, and wiped away tears and given hugs. I am the luckiest principal in DPS, and I am grateful.

We will be sending a family newsletter on the first Friday of each month. We encourage you to bookmark our SKCEE website and are working to keep that updated weekly. If you are on social media, follow SKCEEFAMILIES on IG and Stephen Knight Center for Early Education Families on FB to see the fun and informative PTA posts.

I look forward to meeting many more of you over the year. Please feel free to introduce yourself to me at arrival or dismissal, or send an email anytime. I’m excited to be in the SKCEE community.

In partnership,
Shelley Boberschmidt
INFORMATION, UPDATES, AND ACTION
ECE Parent Forms and Immunizations: Thanks to everyone who has turned in all required paperwork to attend this year. By now you’ve likely received several reminders if you are missing some important documentation. Students without completed forms and immunization records will be unable to return to school until they are turned in. Thanks for understanding as a Center for Early Ed we have licensing requirements that are non-negotiables. Reach out to your child’s teacher if you need more information. Here is a copy of the SKCEE Family Handbook.

Safety Committee: Our number one priority is the safety of the children in our care. We are proud of the protocols and systems we have in place to do everything we can to provide a safe environment for all students, families, and staff, and we know it is a continual process, especially as the Covid restrictions are lifted. We will be forming a collaborative safety committee with some SKCEE staff and would like to partner with a few family members to serve on the committee. If you are interested, please email shelley_boberschmidt@dpsk12.net

Kindergarten Kiss and Go: Thanks for following the kiss and go procedures this week. It is getting smoother as we practice. We appreciate you for driving slowly all the way to the end of the loop where you see the adults opening doors and refraining from exiting your vehicle. Thank you for not parking in the loading zone.
