Hello SKCEE Families,
Welcome to the 24-25 School Year! We are so excited to see all our returning students and to meet all of our new students and their families! We look forward to partnering with you to provide an amazing experience for our youngest learners.
For our newly accepted families please see the attachment below that includes all communication that has been shared with families to date. While you may still have questions, please read through the information provided and plan on joining us either Thursday, Aug. 8 or Friday, Aug. 9. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and share more information with you at registration.
The front office will open on Monday, August 5th. We will be available to answer questions and provide student IDs for online registrations. You may also email me starting today at staci_becker@dpsk12.net and I will send you your child’s student ID, please be sure to include your student’s full name in the request.
To prepare for in-person registration we are encouraging all families to complete online registration through the Parent Portal before Thursday, August 8. As a friendly reminder students will not be able to start school until all required documentation has been received in the office (see below). We have included a breakdown below, by age group, of what must be turned in before school starts.
For our families who cannot make it to the in-person registration days: Please make sure online registration is complete and all required documents have been turned in to the front office by Friday, August 16th. (Please feel free to drop off (10am- Noon Mon-Fri) your paperwork in person or email all items to staci_becker@dpsk12.net.
SKCEE In-Person Registration Days:
Please plan on coming on the day that works best for your family. We will have representatives here from the front office, nurse’s office, Discovery Link and PTA.
Here is what is expected at in-person registration in order for your child to start school on August 20th:
Additional Information:
SKCEE Meet and Greet: Come meet your teacher on Thursday August 15 from 3 – 4 pm. ECE parents and guardians will attend orientation during this time as well with Principal Shelley and Staci Becker.
First day of school:
The ECE Centers work slightly differently due to licensing requirements. The DPS calendar says the first day of school is Monday, August 19th, but for Early Ed that is a licensing staff file / training day, so there is no school for students that day.
We will welcome all students (ECE and Kinder) for a half day on Tuesday, August 20. Students will attend by last name as follows:
Wednesday, August 21 will be our first full day of school. The Cory Shuttle and Discovery Link will also start on Wednesday.
Bell Times
Our bell times will be from 8:15 am – 3:15 pm.
ECE main doors will have a floating arrival and dismissal to allow for the number of families we serve and the limited parking spaces available. Doors will be open from 8:15-8:30 for morning arrival, and again from 3:00-3:15 for afternoon pick up. Families must pick up their child by 3:15 to respect the contracted work hours of our teachers.
Kindergarten has a kiss and go, and you can begin delivering your children to the back playground when adults are stationed at the kiss and go to greet you and your child. Please arrive by 8:25 for kindergarten. Pick up begins at 3:10, and students must be picked up by 3:20. We have a kindergarten shuttle to Cory Elementary, which you’ll learn more about this summer.
Non-Student Contact Teacher Work Days:
In addition to the DPS calendar days, each school is given three non-student contact days for training and planning. On these days our staff will be working on the NAEYC accreditation process. Mark your calendars now and make plans for these approved SKCEE specific non-student contact days:
