Dear SKCEE Families and Friends,
Happy September! We are all settling into the new school year, having fun, and being super messy! Make sure you send your children with a change of clothes and shoes, because we encourage messy play like paint and mud at SKCEE!
We have many fun community activities coming up. Our staff is excited to celebrate with you at the PTA Fall Family Picnic. Your teachers will be here, and we hope you will join us outside after dismissal on Thursday, September 18th. See more details in the linked PTA newsletter below.
Speaking of PTA, we had a record turnout at our first meeting on Wednesday! Thank you to those of you who came, and we hope to see even more families next month at the meeting on October 2 from 5-6. Thank you to all who already stepped up for various volunteer positions such as room parents and helping at the Fall Picnic. We are better together, and are grateful for your support!
Tie Dye Fridays are in full force, and we will be holding our annual tie dye days on September 25th and September 26th. Ms. Cookie will be sending details and a sign up your way soon. Make sure you get your child’s white tee before then!
A friendly reminder to all to be safe in the parking lots at arrival and dismissal. Please only park in designated parking spots, and never park in loading zones or the kiss and go circle. (Here is the Kiss and Go video again for reference and rules, I know we can do it well! 🙂)
Moving forward, you will receive a monthly family newsletter from me. As always, if you ever have any questions or feedback, please feel free to catch me at the front door or send an email my way.
Have a wonderful weekend.
In partnership,
Principal Shelley Boberschmidt
ECE Update:
In ECE we are learning all about our school community, our families, who works at SKCEE, who are the children in our classrooms, how to be in school, be a friend, and most importantly, PLAY! We will be diving into our PETS unit in a couple of weeks, and we are excited to learn all about your furry family members and how to take care of pets next
Kindergarten Update:
In Kindergarten we are learning nursery rhymes and prerequisite skills for writing like lines, directionality, and counting sounds. We started learning about math in our world, and we are exploring various math tools. We focused on being a part of our math community by sharing our thinking and exploring together.
Physical Education Update:
We are off to a great start in PE! Students are learning our rules and routines as well as playing games to practice understanding personal and general space. We have explored hula hoops, scarves and ribbon dancing, scooter boards, and balance beams as well. We will begin practicing under- and overhand throwing soon. Please have your children wear or bring close-toed “running shoes” during the weeks they have PE for their safety and comfort.
