Dear SKCEE Families and Community Members,

Happy Friday!  We observed a marked improvement in attendance this week with both students and faculty.  This is largely due to the grace and patience allotted to those with illnesses to take time to get medical attention.  All staff members demonstrating any COVID symptoms were tested for COVID-19 and I am happy to say that all tests came back negative.  Thank you to families and community members that continue to offer unwavering support and kindness to teachers and faculty members as they manage the obstacles of these challenging times.

Best Regards,

Matt Johnson M.Ed.

Principal of SKCEE

DPS COVID Process

During this time of year, students may experience Non-COVID related illnesses or symptoms like allergies or sinus infections.  Therefore, all COVID related symptoms must be treated with the same level of severity until there is a negative COVID -19 Test, or a doctor’s note stating these symptoms are connected to a preexisting condition.  This does include common symptoms like a runny nose or sore throat.  For a more detailed explanation of when to keep a student home, please carefully review the “At Home Symptom Screening for Parents and Staff” document attached here.  There is also very useful information detailing what constitutes ‘close contact’ for COVID-19 exposure, and when to quarantine in the section titled  “What Should I do if…” on the link Covide-19 Guidance for Parents & Caregivers Here.  This document and more useful resources can be found under the COVID-19 Guidance link on the Denver Public Schools Website, www.dpsk12.org.

Enrichments Return to SKCEE! Registration will open October 6th at 8am to give families time to prepare. Extended Learning is extremely excited to announce the return of Enrichment Programming at Stephen Knight! Below you will find the link to the brochure for Fall Session which begins on 10/19. It is important to note that due to extreme staffing shortages for many of our providers, as well as the current guidelines we must operate off of, we are running a much smaller program offering than you are used to seeing. We are still working with some providers and may add them after today so please check the brochure again prior to the start of registration for updates. Know however that as the year goes on we will be working towards building the traditionally robust programming you have come to know and love.

Access the Stephen Knight Fall Session Brochure here.
