FALL PICNIC
Join us for a relaxed fall afternoon with SKCEE families, teachers, and staff! Bring a blanket, some chairs, maybe an umbrella, and settle in for a fun community gathering. Kids can enjoy dancing to the DJ, while families grab a pizza and juice meal for just $5, with tickets available at the entrance. SKCEE logo tees will also be on sale for $15—perfect for our Tie-Dye Days!
This is a cashless event, so please plan to pay with Venmo or credit card only. Keep an eye out for meal combo tickets, which will be available for pre-sale soon if you’d like to purchase in advance.
Our picnics are only possible because of amazing volunteers, and we’d love your help with set-up, ticketing, pizza, tees, or clean-up. Sign up HERE to volunteer!
COMMUNITY UPDATE
Some of you may, or may not, be aware of the Belcaro Plaza redevelopment (located at the intersection of Colorado and Exposition, also known as the King Soopers Shopping Center) – please find initial details below, as well as an email link to learn more. Kentro Group, a Denver commercial real estate developer, plans to develop Belcaro Plaza in the near future. We are including information in this update as there could be implications for the SKCEE school community, including traffic and safety concerns along Exposition Ave.
The proposed redevelopment includes mixed-use buildings with a 12- to 16-story tower with residential and commercial units. Current zoning codes limit the height to three stories. For reference, 720 South Colorado Blvd. tower (the gold building) is 13 stories. Kentro Group has not yet applied for rezoning, and are at the beginning stages of a Large Development Review.
Should you be interested in discussing and / or learning more, or sharing opinions with the city and / or developers, please reach out to Fiona Lemesany at fiprenders@gmail.com.

For those of you returning to SKCEE next year please consider joining and/or volunteering with our PTA. More information will be sent at the start of the school year and we will have a table at the Meet and Greet reception in August. As always, email knightceepta@gmail.com with any questions!
We are looking for volunteers to become a Room Parent for your child’s class! Room Parents will help their classroom teacher as needed with: communication with parents, finding resources and volunteers, planning and implementing class celebrations, and organizing class gifts. We ask that you become a member of the PTA and attend monthly meetings, as this job will include relaying specific communications from the PTA involving community events, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities. Being a Room Parent is a fun and rewarding job that helps you build great relationships with your child’s teacher and classroom community! Please reach out to your teacher directly if you are interested in volunteering as a Room Parent.
Become a PTA Member!
PTA membership is a great way to get involved in the SKCEE community, and members have a vote on any issues raised at monthly PTA meetings. Membership is $15 for an individual, $30 for a couple, and $10 for SKCEE staff.
Want to get involved in SKCEE events this year? The PTA is also looking for volunteers to help organize and run the various events and fundraisers throughout the year. Sign up to join a committee! Joining a committee is a fantastic way to get involved with our great school and get to know other parents and teachers!

Dine-Out Events: The SKCEE PTA organizes monthly Dine-Out events. These events take place at local restaurants and are a fun way to enjoy a family meal out, and to support SKCEE. Each restaurant donates a portion of the proceeds from the Dine-Out event back to our school.
SKCEE PTA has other fundraising activities you can participate in such as Mabel’s Labels, and BoxTops.

Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out; however, we still encourage you to bring any clips you have, or find into school to feed your classroom Box Top Animal!
BOX TOPS IS MAKING IT EASY. No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school’s Box Tops earnings online. The best thing about this is that friends and family near and far can also contribute by downloading the app and selecting our school as well!
Mabel’s Labels supports SKCEE! Mabel’s Labels is a great source for labels — take a look at their labels made specially for your child’s water bottle, folders, backpacks, etc. They are waterproof, dishwasher proof, cute, and custom labels. Part of proceeds will roll back to the SKCEE PTA! Select “Support a Fundraiser,” and Find Stephen Knight Center for Early Education in the drop down menu. Thanks for your support!
