For the 2027-28 school year, the Round 1 application will open on Dec. 1, 2026 at 10 a.m. and close on Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. Families will be notified of placement results in late Feburary.
Round 1 is for any student who wants or needs to attend a new school for the following school year, particularly “transitioning” students, such as:
All incoming students who reside in an enrollment zone must submit a SchoolChoice application.
Use the School Finder tool to locate your boundary school or determine if you reside within an enrollment zone, or explore schools based on programs. Every K-12 student is guaranteed a seat at their neighborhood school or at one of the schools in their enrollment zone.

Rank your most-preferred schools (as many as you like!) anytime during the Round 1 window. No priority is given to applications submitted earlier in the window. For step-by-step instructions, review the application guide.
Important Note for ECE-4 (Preschool) Applicants: If you are applying for an incoming 4-year-old preschooler, you must complete the Colorado Universal Preschool (UPK) application in addition to your DPS SchoolChoice application.
