2 students posing in class

Dear SKCEE Families,

By now I am sure that most of you have received the announcement from the district about moving to Remote Learning after Thanksgiving Break. We have very mixed emotions about this announcement as I am sure that many of you do as well. We know that being in person and at school is the best way for young children to learn and we love being with them and seeing their smiles every single day. We also know that due to the community spread of COVID, it has been very difficult to keep our building staffed with enough people. So, for right now this is the right decision for the health and safety of our entire community.

The announcement from the district was a little confusing about what we would be offering for ECE students remotely. SKCEE will be offering remote learning to Kindergarten students starting November 30th, 2020. SKCEE will be offering resources for ECE families starting December 4th. All resources will be available via the SKCEE Website and we will do our best to have some resources accessible via smartphone. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer technology devices to all students in ECE at this time. However, teachers will be recording lessons and reaching out to families directly to maintain relationships with students and offer support. We will be reaching out to families to schedule one on one sessions for your child each week. We know that remote learning is hard for students and families but we are committed to making this the best experience possible. We will also continue to have SKCEE Weekly Parent letters to communicate with the community, so please be sure to check the SKCEE website regularly for updates.

Thank you everyone for your continued support, patience and flexibility through all of these crazy times! We know this is not easy for anyone and we greatly appreciate all that you are doing to support us and your children. I hope that you have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you online!

Sincerely,
Matthew Johnson M.Ed.
Principal of Stephen Knight Center for Early Childhood Education
